People Tracing, Missing Persons & Welfare Enquiries

There are many reasons to need missing persons tracing. You may be looking for a family member, witness, beneficiary, former tenant, debtor or person who needs to receive legal papers. You may simply want to know that an estranged relative is safe. The reason matters because it affects what we search, whether we make contact and what information can safely be shared.

You are not committing to anything by contacting us.

A trace is more than finding a name on a database

A reliable trace should show that the result belongs to the correct person and is likely to be current. Names can be shared by many people, and old addresses often remain in records for years. We compare the information you provide with several legal sources before reporting an address.

Useful starting details include the person’s full name, date of birth or approximate age, old addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, occupation, relatives, companies and any other known connection. You do not need to have everything, but stronger details usually lead to a more reliable result.

Legal and business tracing

Solicitors, landlords, businesses and private clients may need a current address for legal papers, debt recovery, an estate or contact with a witness. We explain how confident we are in the result instead of presenting the first address found as certain. If legal papers must then be delivered, the case can move into our Trace & Serve service.

Missing family members and old connections

Family tracing needs care. The person may have moved, changed their name or chosen not to stay in contact. If we locate them, giving out their home address may not be appropriate. We may instead offer to pass on your contact details so they can decide whether to respond.

Welfare enquiries

Sometimes the main question is whether someone appears safe, not where they live. A welfare enquiry may check signs of current activity or involve a careful contact attempt. We report what can reasonably be established while respecting the adult’s privacy and right not to resume contact.

If the person has disappeared suddenly, may be at immediate risk, or is a missing child, contact the police first. We may be able to help with later enquiries, but we do not have police powers and should not delay an urgent report.

How the search is carried out

We may use permitted record searches, company information, public websites and other information that is legally available. If a discreet local check or direct contact would help, we discuss that with you first. Contact is never made automatically because it can alert the person or create a safety concern.

How we report the trace result

The report explains the result, why we believe it relates to the correct person and any limits or uncertainty. If contact was agreed, we report the outcome without sharing more private information than the person has allowed.

How long does it take?

A straightforward UK trace with good identifying details may be completed within several working days. Common names, limited information, frequent moves or overseas links can take longer. We explain the likely timescale before you proceed.

Pricing

A standard people trace starts from £300 + VAT. Missing-person and welfare enquiries start from £450 + VAT. Trace & Serve starts from £450 + VAT. More complex and overseas searches are priced after we review the information available.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you guarantee that you will find the person?

No. Some people cannot be identified or located reliably from the available information. We explain the strength of any result.

Will the person know I am looking for them?

Record and online searches do not usually involve contact. We ask your permission before any approach or local enquiry.

Will you give me their home address?

Only where your reason for searching and the safety circumstances support it. In sensitive family cases, passing on a message may be more appropriate.

Can you trace someone abroad?

Sometimes. The information available, local rules, language and cost differ between countries, so overseas work is quoted separately.

Can you deliver legal papers after finding them?

Yes. We can arrange a separate Trace & Serve instruction once the address is considered reliable enough.
